This April 2026 Turbine article discussed a separate managed retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) service. It was not an Apprentage customer story or evidence that Apprentage includes a managed RAG application.
What the original decision involved
RAG retrieves material from a document collection before generating an answer. Turbine's historical argument was that running the whole service requires more than model access: ingestion, chunking, permissions, evaluation, updates, monitoring, application design, and maintenance.
A managed service may reduce the work an organization does itself, but that is not an automatic savings claim. A team still needs to review its source quality, data permissions, ongoing costs, and ability to correct an answer when documents change.
The adjacent apprenticeship lesson
A sponsor can have equally scattered source material: approved standards, work-process schedules, instruction plans, safety procedures, and mentor guidance. Before using any AI-assisted training content, establish which document is authoritative, who may see it, and who approves changes.
That is a governance lesson from the earlier RAG discussion, not a statement that Apprentage provides retrieval, chatbot, document ingestion, or AI-generated apprenticeship curricula. Sponsors remain responsible for their approved standards and instructional content.
The evidenced Apprentage workflow
Apprentage's apprenticeship pages describe a different, concrete workflow: organizing program and participant records, logging OJT with source documentation and supervisor verification, and tracking related instruction. Keep the approved standard identifiable when mapping those records.
If an organization separately adopts RAG for mentor guidance, test answers against current approved documents and give staff a route to the source. Do not treat generated advice as a supervisor sign-off or a regulatory determination.
