Apprentage and the practical work of apprenticeship management

May 2, 2023 — by Turbine Workforce

What the 2023 announcement proposed

The May 2023 post introduced Apprentage as a way to tailor apprenticeship training, follow apprentice progress, and organize program records. It was a description of a proposed direction, not a study of sponsor adoption or apprentice outcomes.

Claims in the original about widespread customer successes, increased retention, and productivity had no named examples or supporting data. They should not be read as historical results.

The sponsor's actual workflow

A registered apprenticeship combines a defined occupation, paid on-the-job learning, related instruction, progressive wages, and records of progress. A sponsor first sets those standards, then coordinates employers, instructors, mentors, and apprentices around them.

For an Apprentage discussion today, start with one approved work process. Determine what an apprentice must document, who verifies the work, and how the sponsor follows up on gaps between OJT and related instruction. Check the currently available product workflow in a demo, rather than treating a 2023 announcement as a feature guarantee.
