What was announced
In January 2023, Josh Studl presented Apprentage alongside VELA and TurbineLMS as parts of the Turbine family. The announcement addressed apprenticeship sponsors, on-the-job training (OJT), and shared login credentials.
Apprentage was described as a way to manage employer-based training and registered apprenticeships. VELA was described as a voice-driven OJT logbook, and TurbineLMS as a way to connect related instruction with work and occupation competencies.
Those were descriptions of the 2023 product family, not evidence that every proposed integration was deployed or that a sponsor achieved a particular outcome.
Why the distinction matters for sponsors
A sponsor needs a record of what an apprentice practiced, who reviewed it, and how that work relates to the program's occupational standards. Instruction records alone do not establish that someone performed a task at work.
The original VELA logbook approval demonstration illustrates a more concrete workflow: an OJT entry is reviewed for competency approval. For an Apprentage program today, start by mapping the approved work processes and instruction plan, then decide which records mentors must review and retain. Confirm the current product configuration in a demo; the historical announcement is not a current feature inventory.
