Latin Business Institute’s Spanish-language training: an apprenticeship access lesson

Mar 19, 2022 — by Josh Studl

From the Turbine Workforce archive. Historical organizations and product names describe the work at the time, not current Apprentage customer relationships.

In March 2022, the Latin Business Institute selected Turbine Workforce for Spanish-language skills and career development, its World Languages Center and California workforce development programs. This was a Turbine training announcement, not an Apprentage case study.

The historical program description

The Institute described bilingual instruction in soft skills, leadership, career transitions, workplace excellence and state-mandated harassment prevention, including a four-week Spanish-language Job Skills Club.

It also described private consulting, bilingual in-person and online training, entrepreneurship education and community education and empowerment work with the Latino community. The post made no claim about apprentices enrolled or credentials earned.

Relevance for apprenticeship sponsors

When sponsors offer related instruction, language access is part of making training usable. A bilingual course still has to fit the occupation's requirements, and a sponsor must separately document supervised learning at work.

Apprentage supports sponsors in organizing instruction and OJT evidence within program records. The Institute's 2022 selection of Turbine does not establish that it used Apprentage.
