Job Skills Institute’s bilingual training and apprenticeship access

From the Turbine Workforce archive. Historical organizations and product names describe the work at the time, not current Apprentage customer relationships.

In March 2022, Turbine welcomed the Job Skills Institute as a customer for California workforce training. This historical relationship was with Turbine Workforce; it was not an Apprentage apprenticeship deployment.

What the Institute offered

The original announcement described bilingual training and workshops in soft skills, leadership, career transition and workplace excellence, plus state-mandated harassment-prevention training. It also described a four-week Job Skills Club with English- and Spanish-language cohorts.

The post noted the team's consulting, bilingual on-site and online facilitation, entrepreneurship education and work with the Latino community. Josh Studl named Celia Garcia and her team as collaborators and described a shared roadmap, without reporting outcomes from it.

Relevance for sponsors

Accessible instruction in a worker's language can help a sponsor make related instruction understandable and usable. Sponsors still need to define the occupation, supervise on-the-job learning and keep each apprentice's progress records.

Apprentage supports that recordkeeping and instruction-coordination workflow. The Job Skills Institute announcement illustrates a bilingual training partnership, not a claim that its learners were Apprentage apprentices.
