What CCAC’s 2021 drone safety test delivery teaches apprenticeship sponsors

From the Turbine Workforce archive. Historical organizations and product names describe the work at the time, not current Apprentage customer relationships.

In June 2021, the Federal Aviation Administration named the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) an approved administrator for the Recreational Unmanned Aircraft Systems Safety Test (TRUST). This was recreational drone safety training, not an apprenticeship program.

The historical Turbine work

CCAC chose Turbine to deliver the asynchronous course and exam and generate a certificate token. At the time, Turbine reported meeting FAA platform functionality, user-experience and accessibility requirements.

Why it matters to sponsors

A sponsor delivering related technical instruction also needs to know who completed a course, when, and with which supporting evidence. A certificate by itself does not replace apprenticeship OJT records or sponsor oversight.

Today, Apprentage brings related instruction, on-the-job training evidence and program records into an apprenticeship operations workflow. This is a present-day application of the recordkeeping lesson, not a claim that Apprentage delivered TRUST.
